ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, seeks comments on a draft environmental assessment for proposed upgrades to the Corps’ service base in Fountain City, Wisconsin, that will improve the efficiency of the facility as well and provide a safer working environment for employees.
The proposed modernization project will update the facilities to provide a straight-line mooring solution along the shoreline parallel to the river, increase crane support along the mooring wall, raise the elevation of the southern portion of the service base to the same level as the northern end, improve shore power capabilities, upgrade lighting along the waterfront and other minor infrastructure improvements.
A draft environmental assessment describing the project and the environmental impacts is available to the public and can be viewed and downloaded from the St. Paul District website at: https://www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Home/Public-Notices/.
The public review period will end May 21. Questions on the project can be directed to Trevor Cyphers, regional planner, at (651) 290-5031 or at trevor.w.cyphers@usace.army.mil. Please address all formal written correspondence on this project, including any formal comments on the draft Environmental Assessment, to District Engineer, St. Paul District, Corps of Engineers, ATTN: Regional Planning and Environment Division North, 180 Fifth Street East, St. Paul, Minnesota 55101-1638.
