The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently completed construction work at its Clamshell Lake boat access in Crosslake, Minnesota. The boat ramp is now open for use.
Updates included a completely repaved blacktop parking area, newly redone ramp with continuous concrete planking and a new dock. There was also the addition of a new fee machine. Users can purchase a $5 daily pass or a $40 annual pass from the fee machine to utilize the boat ramp. Annual passes will need to be redeemed for a physical pass at the entrance station within the Cross Lake Dam and Recreation Area.
Fees are now being charged to maintain and update the boat ramp for years to come.
The St. Paul District operates 49 recreation areas, ranging from public boat landings along the Mississippi River to visitor centers at its locks to full-service campgrounds. These recreation areas are an important component of the region’s tourism industry, and the impact on the local and regional economies is significant.
