ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is partnering with local organizations to host the 26th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing-Day at Lake Ashtabula, near Valley City, North Dakota June 4. The event will be held at the Mel Rieman Recreation Area. Participants, ages six – 10, must pre-register by having a parent or legal guardian call 701-845-2087 or 701-845-2378. The event is limited to the first 40 kids to register. The registration deadline is May 27. Registration includes transportation, equipment, lunch and entertainment. Prizes will be given to each participant. The Corps is working with the Barnes County Wildlife Federation, Inc.; North Dakota Game & Fish; and Valley City Women of Today to host the event. The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2015 $100 million budget, nearly 1,600 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $155 million to the national economy.
