ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, selected Shoreview, Minnesota, resident, Patrick Foley, as its 2015 hall of fame recipient.
Foley served the St. Paul District for 41 years, 27 of them as chief of the Hydraulics Section. During his tenure, he provided exceptional leadership and technical expertise to the district and the Army Corps of Engineers. As a supervisor, he excelled at developing his staff. His positive influence on employees will serve the public for decades to come.
Foley’s technical ability and reputation were recognized nationally in the hydraulics and hydrology community of practice and earned him positions on the Corps’ Hydrology Committee. He served on several Corps research committees, the Corps’ Hydraulics and Hydrology Task Force, a writer for technical guidance and efforts to incorporate climate change science into the Corps' missions.
"Pat is that rare person that maintained a high level of technical expertise and recognition throughout his entire career, while at the same time excelling as a supervisor leading and developing others,” said Mike Knoff, chief of Hydraulics and Hydrology branch. “All he accomplished during his four decade career, both personally and through others, served to raise the capability and reputation of the St. Paul District. I was truly fortunate to spend a large part of my career working with him."
Foley will be recognized with the honor during the district’s 2015 Retirees’ Reunion and Hall of Fame Luncheon in Eagan, Minnesota, Sept. 10.
The nearly 650 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2014 $100 million budget, nearly 1,600 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $155 million to the national economy.
