Corps temporarily closing Gull Lake recreation areas

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing its recreation areas at Gull Lake Recreation Area, Brainerd, Minn., June 16-19 to reseal the roads.

Visitors with existing reservations may experience minor impacts. 

Gull Lake Dam controls the runoff from 287 square miles of drainage area and the 10 lakes of the Gull Lake chain. The dam raised the lake level approximately five feet. The area around Gull Lake Dam was inhabited several times since 800 B.C. and is the site of several Aboriginal burial mounds.
