ST. PAUL, Minn. – Gull Lake crested Wednesday, May 30, at elevation 1,195.09 feet, tying the record set July 22, 1952. The lake is slowly receding. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, anticipates that, with minimal rainfall, it will take approximately three weeks before the reservoir will drop back to elevation 1,194.0 feet, the center of the normal summer operating band.
Property owners should take caution to move any boat lifts, docks, etc., to higher ground. In addition, channels between lakes will have swift currents and boaters should exercise caution when approaching and proceeding through. Corps of Engineers’ staff will continue to monitor the situation on the reservoir and in the river both upstream and downstream.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, serves the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. It contributes around $175 million to the five-state district economy. The 700 employees work at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states. For more information, see www.mvp.usace.army.mil.
