ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, and the North Dakota State Historical Society, tasked H&S Contracting, Inc., of Moorhead, Minn., to begin stream bank stabilization repairs at the Ft. Abercrombie State Historic Site, located in Abercrombie, N.D.
The repairs will begin within the next few days and are scheduled to be completed in 2013. The project will protect the existing cultural resources at the site by stabilizing the eroding stream banks. Erosion is threatening several historic building foundations at Ft. Abercrombie – a historic site listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places. One foundation has already been lost to the.
The Corps awarded H&S Contracting, Inc., a contract for more than $400,000, Sept. 26 to stabilize one of two eroding banks. The Corps amended the contract Oct. 18 and awarded an additional $357,000 to repair the other stream bank.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, serves the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response.
