The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking public comments on its draft Environmental Assessment, or EA, for a proposed sanitary sewer system improvement project in Wahkon, Minnesota, that was released today, April 18.
The proposed work would involve installing a new 8-inch force main from lift station 1 to the wastewater treatment facility, replacement of 90-degree bends throughout the system, improvements to all six lift stations and installation of residential water meters on the existing private wells within the city limits. The project would largely be completed within previously disturbed land and roadways as the project footprint is within the city limits of Wahkon.
The city of Wahkon requested assistance for improvements to their sanitary sewer system from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers via Section 569 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1999.
A draft EA that describes the project and the environmental impacts in detail is available to the public and can be viewed and downloaded from the St. Paul District website at: www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Home/PublicNotices.aspx.
Questions on the project or comments on the EA can be directed to LeeAnn Glomski, project biologist, at 651-290-5595 or LeeAnn.M.Glomski@usace.army.mil. Please address all formal written correspondence on this project to the St. Paul District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, ATTN: Regional Planning and Environment Division North, 180 5th St. E., Suite 700, St. Paul, MN 55101.
