Corps of Engineers provides $3 million to support Kindred, North Dakota, sanitary sewer system improvements

ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released its 2019 Work Plan Wednesday, Nov. 21, which included $3 million in funding for a sewer project in eastern North Dakota.

The Kindred Sanitary Sewer System Improvement Project is located in Kindred, North Dakota. The project, which is covered under the Corps’ Environmental Infrastructure Assistance Program, will expand and rehabilitate the city’s sanitary sewer and lagoon system.

The project is currently in the design phase. The $3 million in federal funding through the Corps’ Environmental Infrastructure Program, also known in North Dakota as the Section 594 program, will support a portion of the funds needed to complete the project.

The nearly 650 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the St. Paul District Fiscal Year 2018 $106 million budget, nearly 1,700 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $163 million to the national economy.
