Graphic showing where public access will be limited while the Lock and Dam 2 road and parking lot is being repaved and sealed.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will limit public access to Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, June 11-22, due to a pavement rehabilitation project.
Access to the lock, the parking lot and observation deck will be closed to the public for 2-3 days each week and the public can expect traffic disruptions on the remaining days. The exact closure dates are weather dependent. There will be equipment moving during these two weeks, so the public is asked to be alert and follow the warning signs and flagger directions when road access is allowed.
The parking lot and observation deck will be open June 16-17, Saturday and Sunday.
Lock operations will not be affected.
The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the St. Paul District Fiscal Year 2016 $78 million budget, nearly 1,250 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $120 million to the national economy.
