ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters recently selected Bonnie Greenleaf, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, native, and St. Paul District project manager, as recipient of the Chief of Engineers 2016 Civil Responder of the Year award. The annual award recognizes civil contingency responders who performed their duties exceptionally well during civil disaster operations support. “I am honored and humbled to be recognized for my efforts,” Greenleaf said. St. Paul District Commander Samuel Calkins said Greenleaf’s technical analysis and supervision resulted in reduced disaster risk, improved infrastructure, and environmental sustainability while supporting the Corps’ mission to engineer solutions for the nation’s toughest challenges. The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the St. Paul District Fiscal Year 2016 $78 million budget, nearly 1,250 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $120 million to the national economy.
