  • WiL5R NOA Draft EA PN Time Extension 2 20240726 final

    Expiration date: 7/26/2024

    On May 20, 2024, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, St Paul District Regulatory Division (Corps) published for comment a Draft Environmental Assessment, Draft Section 404(b)(1) Guidelines Evaluation, and Draft Public Interest Review, hereafter referred to as the Draft Combined Decision Document (DCDD). This notice hereby announces the Corps decision to extend the comment period, which began on 20 May 2024. The public comment period will expire at the end of the day on 30 August 2024. This action has been taken to ensure that sufficient opportunity is provided to the public to consider and submit comments regarding the Corps federal action. This is the second time extension granted since the Corps published the DCDD. The first-time extension was granted on 07 June 2024, and was based upon public request. This second time extension has been offered by the Corps to ensure the public has sufficient time to review the following information, uploaded or updated since 20 May 2024:

  • Xcel Energy Cable Bayfield to Madeline Island

    Expiration date: 7/26/2024

    12,400 linear feet of electric cable is proposed to be installed from Bayfield to La Pointe, Wisconsin to replace aging cable infrastructure and provide long-term, reliable service to residents on Madeline Island.

  • M432B Carlton-Wakefield B Digs – Sites 20715 and ANOM-2582

    Expiration date: 8/2/2024

    As part of its pipeline integrity program, Northern Natural Gas has conducted an inline inspection of their natural gas pipelines and identified anomalies to be inspected and repaired at two locations along the existing M432B branch line. Construction activities include the digging of a trench to visually inspect the pipeline and repair the line if necessary. Dredged material would be temporarily sidecast on construction matting within the work area and replaced upon completion of the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in Summer 2024. Temporary construction matting would be utilized to avoid soil rutting and mixing. All temporary construction matting would be removed within 60 days of placement, and disturbed areas would be restored to pre-construction conditions.

  • Saxon Pump Transmission Line Rebuild Project

    Expiration date: 7/30/2024

    Xcel Energy is requesting authorization to rebuild the existing W3351 88 kilovolt (kV)/W3353 34.5 kV Saxon Pump transmission line. The Project is needed as the existing lines are nearing the end of their lifespan. The overall Project is approximately 8.2 miles long. The rebuild will occur both within the existing ROW corridor and within new ROW corridor as new alignment. Approximately 6.6 miles will be rebuilt within the existing ROW corridor and will require expansion of the ROW to 100 feet in width. Approximately 1.6 miles will be rebuilt in new alignment within a new ROW corridor 50 feet in width. One temporary staging area, adjacent to the existing Saxon pump facility, is also proposed.

  • Enbridge Line 5 Wisconsin Segment Relocation Project Hearing Public Notice

    The Corps will conduct a public hearing on June 4th, 2024. The public hearing will be held at the Northwood Technical College, located at 2100 Beaser Avenue, Ashland, WI 54806 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. CST.

    PUBLIC NOTICE: INFORMATIONAL NOTICE: ENBRIDGE LINE 5 WISCONSIN SEGMENT RELOCATION - The purpose of this public notice is to advise interested parties that the St. Paul District (Corps) has made available online additional information received as part of the Corps’ continued review of a permit application from Enbridge Energy. The application requests Corps authorization pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbor Act of 1899 (Section 10) for work under a navigable water of the United States, and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (Section 404) for discharges of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States. These activities are proposed to construct the Line 5 Wisconsin segment relocation (WI L5R) project.
