  • Corps of Engineers completes first Lake Pepin ice measurements

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, completed the first ice measurements of the year on Lake Pepin, near Red Wing, Minn., Wednesday, Feb. 13.
  • Mississippi River Headwaters parks recognized with safety award

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently selected its southern Headwaters recreation section as its 2012 Government Employee Safety Now Award recipient. The section includes park rangers from Crosslake Recreation Area, Crosslake, Minn., and Gull Lake Recreation Area, Brainerd, Minn. Both areas are highly visited recreation sites, collectively boasting more than 1,000,000 visits in 2012.
  • Corps of Engineers to begin annual Lake Pepin ice measurements

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will begin taking this year's annual Lake Pepin ice measurements, Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Corps takes ice measurements on Lake Pepin each year to predict the navigational outlook on the Upper Mississippi River.
  • Corps awards $4 million contract to build Mississippi River islands in Pool 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4 million contract to McHugh Excavating and Plumbing, Inc., of Onalaska, Wis., Feb. 5 to begin construction on the second and final stage of its Capoli Slough Islands habitat restoration project, taking place five miles south of Lansing, Iowa, in Pool 9 on the Mississippi River.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is migrating its public website (http://www.mvp.usace.army.mil) and all its Web pages to a new look and hosting platform on Feb. 5, 2013.

PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently announced Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc., as the recipient of its 2012 Superior Safety Performance Award – Large Contractor for safe and accident-free work during major construction modifications at Lock and Dam 3, near Red Wing, Minn.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi Valley Division recently announced its selection of Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District employee Eric Johnson as the recipient of its 2012 Construction Hard Hat of the Year Award.

    ST. PAUL, MINN. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, along with Valley City, N.D., will hold a public meeting to provide a status update to the public to the Valley City Sheyenne River Flood Risk Management Feasibility study Jan. 10, 2013.

  • Corps and Diversion Authority to host landowner meeting on proposed Oxbow area levee alternative

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in cooperation with the Flood Diversion Board of Authority will host a meeting Jan. 8 for landowners of the Oxbow, Bakke and Hickson area affected by the proposed Fargo, N.D./Moorhead, Minn., diversion channel.
