  • Corps extends public comment period for PolyMet’s Northmet Mine permit

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is providing an additional 15 days for the public to comment on the Clean Water Act Section 401(a)(2) action related to the PolyMet/NorthMet mining project. Public comments may be submitted until June 30.

PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $7.7 million contract to HSG Park Joint Venture, LLC, of Harvey, North Dakota, to complete a fish passage structure at Drayton Dam, located around 60 miles north of Grand Forks, North Dakota, on the Red River of the North.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, plans to increase water releases over the weekend from Baldhill Dam, near Valley City, North Dakota, this week to maintain storage capacity within Lake Ashtabula.
  • UPDATE: Corps postpones Marsh Lake project completion ceremony

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Upper Minnesota River Watershed District will celebrate the completion of the Marsh Lake environmental enhancement project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 14, at 11 a.m. This is an update from the previous date of May 17. This event is postponed due to recent rain and storm events, which have made it unsafe to access the site.
  • Upper Mississippi River System Hydraulic Model Update Complete

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island, St. Paul and St. Louis districts recently completed a seven-year effort to develop an updated, standardized hydraulic model for the Upper Mississippi River System, including the Illinois Waterway. The model can be used to evaluate and communicate the effects of floodplain modifications to provide better predictability and more consistent flood risk management for the Upper Mississippi River System.
  • Corps of Engineers to host ribbon cutting at Lake Ashtabula visitor center

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will celebrate the reopening of its newly renovated visitor center at its Lake Ashtabula Dam and Recreation Area, as well as the site’s 70th anniversary, with a ribbon cutting ceremony May 18, at 11 a.m.
