  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 52 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue five new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing seaweed mariculture activities, finfish mariculture activities, electric utility line and telecommunications activities, utility line activities for water and other substances, and water reclamation and reuse facilities.
  • Contract awarded for Chippewa Diversion upstream cofferdam construction

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently awarded a $133,611 contract to Tunheim Construction LLC, out of Moorhead, Minnesota, to construct an upstream cofferdam for the Chippewa Diversion, near Watson, Minnesota.

  • Corps of Engineers awards $4.1 million contract to restore part of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4.1 million contract to S.M. Hentges & Sons Inc., of Jordan, Minnesota, June 18, to begin constructing a habitat restoration project between Shakopee and Savage, Minnesota.
  • Corps to temporarily reduce flows at Orwell Dam

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will be reducing flows from Orwell Dam, near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, starting at 7 a.m. on June 9, in order to allow Otter Tail County staff to relocate mussels for a bridge replacement project downstream of the dam.
  • Leech Lake Recreation Area boat landing temporarily closed

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, has temporarily closed its boat landing at the Leech Lake Recreation Area in Federal Dam, Minnesota, due to safety concerns for its staff, visitors and the local community.
  • Corps extends Winona-area draft dredged material plan comment period

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is extending its draft Environmental Assessment, or EA, for the proposed dredged material management plan in Pool 6, near Winona, Minnesota. Comments will now be accepted through April 10. The previous deadline was March 9.
