The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, increased outflow above approximately 1,100 cubic feet per second (cfs) from White Rock Dam at Mud Lake near Wheaton, Minnesota, April 21.
As a result of the spring snowmelt and multiple rain events, Lake Traverse and Mud Lake are now one pool and peeked about a foot from the top of the flood control.
White Rock Dam is downstream of Lake Traverse and Reservation Dam. Releasing more than 1,100 cfs from the dam lowers the risk of the high winds causing damage and gains storage for additional precipitation in the area. Once some storage is restored, the Corps will return outflow to approximately 1,100 cfs from White Rock Dam. The Corps will continue to monitor outflow until both pools return to the target level.
