  • Corps continues to monitor its Mississippi River Headwaters reservoirs

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, continues to monitor water levels at its Mississippi River Headwaters reservoirs. The water levels in the reservoirs, except for Pokegama Lake, are below the summer target level, which is the level maintained for water supply, environmental and recreational benefits. All reservoirs are releasing the minimum flow. The Corps urges boaters to go slow and use caution in lower-than-normal lakes levels.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will host three open houses onboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi: • La Crosse, Wisconsin, Aug. 12, 5-7 p.m., at Riverside Park • Wabasha, Minnesota, Aug. 13, 5-7 p.m., at 50 Pembroke Ave. (adjacent to the National Eagle Center) • Red Wing, Minnesota, Aug. 14, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., at Levee Park
  • Corps announces additional temporary closures at Hastings lock and dam to replace nearly 80-year-old gates

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will have additional temporary closures at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, August 3 and 5 to properly align and seal the lock chamber’s new miter gates. The lock will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Corps set to move dredged material, urges caution near work site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is scheduled to begin moving approximately 50,000 cubic yards of river sand, or dredged material, from the Dakota Island Placement Site, near Dakota, Minnesota, to the Trempealeau, Wisconsin, Placement Site, which is about 8 miles away.
  • Corps monitors low water on the Upper Mississippi River, navigation continues

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, continues to closely monitor water levels on the Upper Mississippi River as drought conditions continue across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The low water is not affecting shipping conditions on the river and navigation continues.
  • Corps announces temporary closure at Hastings lock and dam to replace nearly 80-year-old gates

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will have four temporary closure periods at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, from July 20-29, to replace the lock chamber’s miter gates.

  • Corps awards contract for Pigs Eye Lake habitat restoration project

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in partnership with Minnesota’s Ramsey County awarded a $14.7 million contract to LS Marine, Inc., of St. Paul, Minnesota, June 25, to restore habitat on Pigs Eye Lake, located in upper Pool 2 of the Mississippi River.
