    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, has cancelled today’s open house at Lock and Dam 2, in Hastings, for safety concerns due to severe weather.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will limit public access to Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, June 11-22, due to a pavement rehabilitation project.
  • First tow marks unofficial opening to navigation season

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2015 Mississippi River navigation season has arrived. The Motor Vessel New Dawn locked through Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings, Minnesota, at 7:45 a.m. this morning. She was pushing nine loaded barges en route to St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Corps of Engineers releases Lock and Dam 2 statistics for the 2014 navigation season

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released the 2014 navigation statistics for the Upper Mississippi River today, Dec. 10. The 2014 navigation season was one of the shortest seasons on record. A historically late start, coupled by summer floods, finished with the earliest closure at Lock and Dam 2, in Hastings, Minnesota, since 1970. Despite the challenges, there were 2,452 lockages at the lock during the 2014 navigation season. There were 2,574 lockages during the 2013 navigation season.
  • Corps of Engineers provides Lock and Dam 2 statistics for the 2011 navigation season

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – Exactly 4,477 vessels and 6,735,253 tons of cargo passed through Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minn., during the 2011 navigation season from March 31-Dec. 3. The MV Charlie G. was the last tow to pass through Nov. 24.
