Published Jan. 21, 2022

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, received $12 million for three water supply and sanitary sewer infrastructure projects in northern and eastern North Dakota in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, or IIJA, Plan released this week.

The three projects included in the plan are the city of Aneta’s water and sanitary sewer project, located in Nelson County; the city of Cando’s sanitary sewer replacement project, located in Towner County; and the city of Enderlin’s water supply project, located in Cass and Ransom Counties.

“These are all great projects for these communities,” said Michelle Prosser, Corps of Engineers environmental infrastructure program manager. “This program is an excellent example of a partnership that pools resources from various agencies, communities and organizations to get projects that truly help people in the ground.”

All three of these projects are a part of the Corps’ Environmental Infrastructure Assistance Program, commonly referred to as Section 594 within the state of North Dakota. This program assists rural communities with building, designing and/or restoring environmentally-friendly water supply and wastewater treatment systems. As of 2021, the St. Paul District has assisted more than 50 communities in building 70 projects totaling more than $80 million.
