The Directorate of Civil Works is a major component of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Civil Works programs include water resource development activities including flood risk management, navigation, recreation, and infrastructure and environmental stewardship. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces finalization of nationwide permits
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will reissue 56 existing nationwide permits and issue one new permit for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. One existing permit will not be reissued.

Corps conducts drawdown of reservoirs in the Red River of the North basin
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, started the drawdown of its Red River of the North basin reservoirs in preparation of spring flooding. Fall/winter drawdowns are conducted to help manage anticipated snowmelt runoff in the spring. Additional drawdowns may be necessary depending on snow fall amounts over the winter months.

Navigation season ending on the Upper Mississippi River
The last tow of the 2025 Upper Mississippi River navigation season departed St. Paul, Minnesota, Tuesday, Nov. 25. The Motor Vessel Sierra Dawn departed late afternoon enroute to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings, Minnesota, with 12 barges.
