  • Corps of Engineers seeks comments on Pool 9 dredged material management plan

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking public comments on the proposed Pool 9 dredged material management plan that covers the Upper Mississippi River from Lock and Dam 8, near Genoa, Wisconsin, to Lock and Dam 9, near Lynxville, Wisconsin.

  • Corps of Engineers launches new towboat “Fountain City”

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, announces the launch of its new maintenance and repair towboat, the “Fountain City,” Aug. 26 from the Steiner Construction Company Inc. shipyard in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. The vessel will be delivered to the Fountain City Service Base, Fountain City, Wisconsin.

  • Corps of Engineers hosts Lock and Dam 9 open house

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – Come see our shiny new gates! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will host a public open house at Lock and Dam 9 near Lynxville, Wisconsin, Sept. 26. This is a rare opportunity for the public to see the four new miter gates that were installed this summer.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will host a public open house in Guttenberg, Iowa, Sept. 26. Held in conjunction with Germanfest, the event offers the public a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how the Corps maintains the lock, as well as the Mississippi River navigation channel.

  • Make core memories at the Corps of Engineers Lock and Dam 7 open house

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will host a public open house at Lock and Dam 7 in La Crescent, Minnesota, Sept. 19. Held in conjunction with La Crescent’s annual Applefest, the event offers the public a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how the Corps maintains the Mississippi River navigation channel — which allows a single commercial barge to transport the equivalent of 7.5 million apples.

  • Corps of Engineers to begin moving river sand in Pool 3

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, and its contractor, L.S. Marine, Inc., of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, will mobilize in the next few weeks, to begin moving 450,000 cubic yards of river sand from the Corps Island temporary placement site near Welch, Minnesota, to a permanent upland placement site.

  • Corps of Engineers announces temporary closures at Lock and Dam 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is temporarily closing Lock and Dam 9, in Lynxville, Wisconsin, July 14, 16, 21 and 23, to replace all four main lock chamber miter gates. The lock will be closed to all river traffic, commercial and recreational, from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.

  • Corps of Engineers temporarily closes West Newton Chute boat landing

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will close the West Newton Chute boat landing on the Mississippi River near Kellogg, Minnesota, around July 6.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting an open house at its Mississippi River Lock and Dam 4 in Alma, Wisconsin, on July 25.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting an open house at the Mississippi River Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, July 18.
