Big Sandy Lake dam rehabilitation meeting scheduled

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in partnership with the Sandy Lake Association, will host an informational meeting Sat., Nov. 2, following the association’s monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m., at the Big Sandy Lodge and Resort, 20534 487^th Street, McGregor, Minnesota.

The one-hour meeting is designed to provide information about repairs that are necessary to keep the dam operating in a safe manner. Corps staff will also provide an anticipated schedule for the repairs and discuss any effects the project will have on the lake, recreators and property owners. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

“Think of it as doing maintenance on your house,” said Bob Edstrom, St. Paul District project manager. “These repairs are necessary to keep the 100-plus year old dam operating safely for decades to come.”
