ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chief of Engineers and Commanding General Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite will be visiting Fargo, North Dakota, Tuesday, April 16.

The Chief will visit with Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Authority and community officials from 2:45-3:45 p.m. Semonite will be available for comments for a short time directly following this meeting. St. Paul District Commander Col. Sam Calkins will accompany him.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, and Fargo Moorhead Area Diversion Authority are working in partnership to build a project that will reduce flood risk for more than 230,000 people and 70 square miles of infrastructure in the communities of Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo Horace and Harwood. The project includes building a 30-mile long diversion channel in North Dakota with upstream staging. The project is being implemented using a public private partnership, which is an innovative approach for the Corps of Engineers.

The purpose of the Chief’s visit to Fargo-Moorhead community is to receive an update on the status of the project and hear from community leaders.
