Corps of Engineers awards $6.3 million contract for Pool 9 restoration habitat project
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $6.3 million contract to Dubuque Barge and Fleeting (doing business as Newt Marine Service) of East Dubuque, Illinois, Aug. 12, for the construction of the Reno Bottoms Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project on the Upper Mississippi River near New Albin, Iowa.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is proud to recognize National Hydropower Day, Aug. 24. For more than 140 years, the USACE Hydropower Program has been providing the nation with ready, reliable, and resilient energy. USACE is the largest owner and operator of hydroelectric power plants in the United States, generating more than 25% of the nation’s hydropower and ranking among the nation’s top 10 power producers overall.

Make core memories at the Corps of Engineers Lock and Dam 7 open house
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will host a public open house at Lock and Dam 7 in La Crescent, Minnesota, Sept. 19. Held in conjunction with La Crescent’s annual Applefest, the event offers the public a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how the Corps maintains the Mississippi River navigation channel — which allows a single commercial barge to transport the equivalent of 7.5 million apples.
