• Located on Mississippi River mile 815.2, upstream of Hastings, Minnesota.
• Constructed in 1930. Lock walls settled and tilted which led to construction of a second lock completed in 1948. The site underwent major rehabilitation from 1987 to 1995.
• Dam consists of a concrete structure 722 feet long with 19 Tainter gates, 30 feet long. Dam has 4.4 megawatt power plant owned and operated by the city of Hastings. Earth embankment 3,000 feet long.
• Lock is 110 feet wide by 600 feet long.

Public restrooms at Lock and Dam 2 will open for the season Monday, April 28. The public restrooms will remain open from approximately 7am-8pm. This is a rough estimate based on staff availability. If the staff are busy, the opening and closing may be adjusted accordingly.
