Minneapolis locks closing for the end of navigation season
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing its Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam and Lock and Dam 1, both in Minneapolis, to commercial and recreational vessels for the end of the navigation season Monday, Nov. 1.

First tow marks the open of the 2021 navigation season
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Motor Vessel R. Clayton McWhorter, originating from the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois and pushing 12 barges en route to St. Paul, Minnesota, was locked through Lock and Dam 3, near Welch, Minnesota, today around 1:45 p.m. The tow marks the unofficial start of the 2021 navigation season.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Exactly 4,712 vessels and 11,547,240 tons of cargo passed through Lock and Dam 9, located near Lynxville, Wis., during the 2011 navigation season from March 16-Dec. 6. The Penny Eckstein was the last tow to pass through Dec. 6.
