Corps reopens Gull Lake Dam and Recreation Area to camping

Published May 23, 2016

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is reopening its campsites at Gull Lake Dam and Recreation Area, near Brainerd, Minnesota.

The Corps will begin accepting campsite reservations May 25 via
www.recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.

The entire recreation area, to include the campsites, picnic area, beach and boat ramp, were closed following a severe storm in July 2015. The storm caused significant damage to the recreation area and resulted in a lengthy clean-up process.

The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2015 $100 million budget, nearly 1,600 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $155 million to the national economy. For more information, see
