Corps of Engineers to host free youth fishing derby at Blackhawk Park

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting a free youth fishing derby for kids age 12 and under at its Blackhawk Park near De Soto, Wis., Aug. 3.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and all children need to be registered by 8:50 a.m. Educational programs will be held from 9 - 10:20 a.m. The derby begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants will be registered under one of three age groups: 5 years old and younger, 6 - 9 years old, and 10 - 12 years old.

All fishing must be done from shore and within park boundaries. Participants only need to bring their own sunscreen and a fishing pole. Local merchants will provide bait, a light lunch and prizes.
