Published April 12, 2013

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $722,000 contract to The Povolny Group of St. Paul, Minn., today, April 12, to begin construction on stage 3a of its Stillwater, Minn., flood damage reduction project.

This project consists of constructing interior drainage features near Lowell Park, paralleling the railroad right-of-way. It will enhance the city’s ability to flood fight in this location.

Construction is anticipated to begin late May, weather permitting, and is expected to last approximately 4 months.

The nearly 700 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2011 $175 million budget, nearly 2,800 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $271 million to the national economy.
