ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in cooperation with the Flood Diversion Board of Authority, is hosting a construction industry day workshop and contracting seminar on the proposed diversion channel for the Fargo, N.D./Moorhead, Minn., area June 27 and 28.
Pre-registration for either or both days of the two-day event is required and space is limited. There will also be an opportunity for contractors and suppliers to sign up for a one-on-one session with Corps contracting and engineering employees during pre-registration.
The Corps and the Diversion Authority are currently in the preliminary design phase of the proposed project and are seeking contractor and supplier input to improve the project’s construction process. The construction industry day workshop on June 27 will include a general project overview, design feature concepts, and more detailed information on the first design reach of the project based on the draft design.
A separate contracting seminar will be held June 28 as an introduction to contracting with the federal government. The seminar will provide a general overview of some of the rules, regulations and processes involved in federal government contracting. Topics will include certification applications for various small business categories, joint venture agreements, small business subcontracting plans, construction contract clauses, common bid irregularities, and the responsibilities and expectations associated with satisfactory contract performance. (The proposed diversion project will not be discussed during the Contracting Seminar.)
