ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, invites everyone 12 years old and younger to participate in the 14th Annual Blackhawk Park Youth Fishing Derby, Aug 4. The derby will take place at Blackhawk Park, E590 County Road B1, De Soto, Wis.
The event is free. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and all children need to be registered by 8:50 a.m. Educational programs will be held from 9 to10:20 a.m., and the fishing derby begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants will be registered under one of three age groups: 5 years old and younger, 6 to 9, and 10 to 12.
All fishing must be done from shore and within park boundaries so participants only need to bring their own sunscreen and a fishing pole. Local merchants will provide bait, a light lunch and prizes.
