The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, selected Osceola, Wisconsin, resident Barb Griffin as one of its two 2024 Civil Servants of the Year.

The St. Paul District presents this award annually to its top employees. Griffin, the lead administrative assistant for the St. Paul District headquarters, was selected for the award as an “unsung hero.”

Known for her expertise in government procurements, logistics and personnel matters, Griffin consistently  contributes her skills to ensure the organization has everything it needs to be successful.  Her voluntary spirit ensures work events are a positive experience for everyone, and she routinely assists with extracurricular activities to include helping organize and execute district social and community relations events. As her skills are renowned throughout the Corps of Engineers, she often gets calls for advice from other organizations across the nation.

And although not a part of her job, she goes above and beyond to welcome new people to the organization, assists other administrative personnel, educates new supervisors on personnel and logistics actions and supports employees with navigating new programs.

“Barb Griffin consistently goes above and beyond for everyone at the St. Paul District,” said Col. Eric Swenson St. Paul District commander. “She works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everyone from the newest employee to senior leaders has what they need to be successful.”

Griffin will be recognized for his efforts during an award ceremony at the Great Northern Building in St. Paul, Minnesota May 7.
