ST. PAUL, Minn. – In partnership with the National Park Service the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting an open house at the Upper St. Anthony Falls lock and dam, in Minneapolis, on Saturday, July 21, to coincide with the city’s Aquatennial festival.
The open house is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will also be attended by the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S.C.G. Auxiliary and National Park Services.
The invitation is offered to anyone interested to learning more about the site, it’s historic past and the future of the three Minneapolis locks as they pertain to the disposition study being conducted by the St. Paul District. Events include interacting with representatives from the participating federal agencies and exploring the visitor center surrounded by panoramic views of the falls.
The Upper St. Anthony Falls lock and dam is one of 13 Mississippi River locks managed by the St. Paul District.
The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the St. Paul District Fiscal Year 2016 $78 million budget, nearly 1,250 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $120 million to the national economy.
