Maple River aqueduct
Members of the St. Paul District’s Fargo-Moorhead Metro Flood Risk Management team recently made a site visit to view a model of the Maple River aqueduct over the proposed diversion channel. The 50:1 scale model measures 80 feet by 70 feet is being constructed at the University of Minnesota Outreach Research and Education Park in Rosemount, Minn. Here, Chris Ellis, Senior Research Associate at St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, explains to Corps employees (left to right) Kurt Heckendorf, Craig Evans, Randy Devendorf, Jon Sobiech and Bob Edstrom, how the model will collect data that engineers can use to refine how the project is designed and constructed.
