Corps staff teach future scientists how to build islands
STILLWATER, Minn. - Jon Sobiech and David Potter, St. Paul District planning, voluntarily participated as Corps representatives at Da Vinci Fest held at Stillwater High School, in Stillwater, Minnesota, Jan. 7. They staffed an exhibit featuring an interactive island building activity for kids as a demonstration of the Upper Mississippi River Restoration's Pool 8 Islands Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project. The exhibit also displayed mussel shells and a video of mussel life histories that inhabit the Upper Mississippi River. They estimate between 400 and 500 interactions with members of the public during the four-hour event. Pictured below is Potter. – USACE photo by Jon Sobiech
