We are currently updating our water control plan that is used to manage both Lake Traverse and Mud Lake. The two lakes are located near Wheaton, Minnesota.

Corps staff are finalizing the draft updates to the current plan to ensure it meets the needs of the communities and minimizes flood threats. The plan was last updated in 1994. Corps engineers operate the reservoirs in accordance with the plan to manage water levels.

  Public and agency review comment period is May 5 - June 6, 2025
• Fall 2025: Excepted approval of recommended updated operating plan
• The water control manual update is not currently funded. A deviation will be used to manage the water with the recommended operating plan.

Updating the water control plan for Red Lake Dam is currently paused.
