Lake Ashtabula is formed by the impoundment of the Sheyenne River behind Baldhill Dam. The 5,200 acre lake extends 27 miles upstream of the dam and offers a variety of recreation activities, ranging from boating, fishing, camping and swimming, to name a few. The 63-mile Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic starts at the base of Baldhill Dam.
