Work continues despite bitter cold
Though our lock and dam crews are doing everything they can to keep workers indoors today, preventive maintenance still needs to be done during this extreme cold event. At Lock 1, the lockmaster uses his best winter gear to check heat lamps in the gauge houses to ensure their functionality. Water spilling over the dam almost looks ready to freeze in place. Through a spotting scope ice can be seen forming on the downstream side of the dam.
