Judy Desharnais, the district’s deputy for programs and project management for nearly 20 years, got some well-deserved recognition while in Washington, D.C., Oct. 3. First, while meeting with congressional leaders throughout the day, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) presented Judy – instrumental in flood mitigation work in both North Dakota and Minnesota – a personalized document thanking her for her service. Later that evening, Judy was joined by husband, John, and Col. Sam Calkins, district commander, at the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals gala. Judy was one of 27 finalists nationwide nominated for the award.
