Corps, partners sign Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project Partnership Agreement
FARGO, N.D. -- Darrell Vanyo, Diversion Authority chairman, from left; Del Rae Williams, Moorhead, Minnesota, mayor; Tim Mahoney, Fargo, North Dakota, mayor; and Lowry Crook, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works), sign a project partnership agreement in Fargo, July 11. The project partnership agreement signing initiates the construction phase of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project. This project includes building a 30-mile diversion channel that will direct floodwater around the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. The project will reduce flood risk for more than 225,000 people and 70 square miles of infrastructure.
