Corps kicks off 150th Anniversary canoe voyage

LAKE ITASCA, Minn. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is celebrating its 150th anniversary by canoeing the Upper Mississippi River from its headwaters at Lake Itasca to Lock and Dam 10, in Guttenberg, Iowa. Corps staff are volunteering to canoe the river and plan to reach Lock and Dam 10 on Aug. 17, the day Maj. Gouverneur K. Warren, the district’s first commander, established the St. Paul District.

Water and boating safety

The St. Paul District welcomes the 101 days of summer with a reminder for everyone to play it safe while on the water and to always wear a life jacket.
