Pathways students encounter giant stinging nettle plants
While surveying tree seedlings as part of the Gores Reforestation Project, Pathways student Kaecey Jertson (left) and Student Conservation Association intern Amanda Ross encountered stinging nettles plants estimated to be more than 12 feet tall. The Gores Reforestation Project, located in Pool 3, is intended to enhance wildlife habitat and manage invasive species on a Mississippi River island located near Red Wing, Minn., which is public land managed by the Corps.
