Published May 6, 2019

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, selected Nan Bischoff as one of its three Civil Servants of the Year for 2018.

The St. Paul District presents this award annually to the top three or four employees of its nearly 700-person staff. Bischoff, with 35 years of service with the federal government – all with the St. Paul District – is a project manager at the district’s headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Bischoff was nominated for the “Unsung Hero” award for successfully managing many unique and challenging projects within the district. Examples are the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission program and the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Disposition Study.

“Bischoff is the consummate public servant, quietly taking on projects of all size and difficulty without fanfare,” said Nate Wallerstedt, chief of project management and development branch. “Her organization skills and ability to effectively lead project teams and execute the Corps mission are unsurpassed.”

Bischoff’s award was presented at the 42nd Annual Minnesota Civil Servant of the Year Awards at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, May 1.

“I think there are a lot of other unsung heroes in my organization, and I hope they get recognized as well,” Bischoff said.
