Corps’ Blackhawk Park opens to campers early this season

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Park rangers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District’s Blackhawk Park, near De Soto, Wis., are welcoming campers to stay at the park earlier than normal this year.

Campsites are currently available on a first-come, first-serve basis through May 31. Reservations for 44 of the 73 electric sites begin June 1 and can be made six months in advance of the arrival date by calling 1-877-444-6777 or visiting www.recreation.gov. Camping fees for the park this year are $24 for an electric site and $18 for a non-electric site.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, serves the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. It contributes around $175 million to the five-state district economy. The 700 employees work at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states. For more information, see www.mvp.usace.army.mil.
