Corps of Engineers opens Minneapolis locks for navigation season

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is opening its Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam and Lock and Dam 1, both in Minneapolis, to navigation for commercial and recreational traffic, Sunday, April 19.

The last tow of the 2025 Upper Mississippi River navigation season departed St. Paul, Minnesota, Tuesday, Nov. 25. The Motor Vessel Sierra Dawn departed late afternoon enroute to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings, Minnesota, with 12 barges.

PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is temporarily closing Lock and Dam 6, in Trempealeau, Wisconsin, August 19, 21, 26 and 28, to replace all four main lock chamber miter gates. The lock will be closed to all river traffic, commercial and recreational, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Corps of Engineers set to dredge Winona, Minn., boat harbor

The dredge cut involves establishing a new location for river dredging.
