Corps and Diversion Authority to host landowner meeting on proposed Oxbow area levee alternative

ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in cooperation with the Flood Diversion Board of Authority will host a meeting Jan. 8 for landowners of the Oxbow, Bakke and Hickson area affected by the proposed Fargo, N.D./Moorhead, Minn., diversion channel.  

 

The Corps and Diversion Authority are investigating the option of building a ring levee for the communities of Oxbow, Bakke and Hickson as mitigation for the proposed staging area needed for the proposed diversion channel.

 

The meeting will focus on the specific properties impacted and seek local input on whether a ring levee is the preferred course of action. More detailed maps can be viewed at http://www.fmdiversion.com.The meeting will take place on Jan. 8, 2013, at the Bennett Elementary School, located at 2500 58th Ave. S., Fargo. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with an open house, followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.

Landowners who live in or own land within the communities of Oxbow, Bakke and Hickson have been contacted about this meeting by letter.
