ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, reopened the boat ramp at Gull Lake Dam and Recreation Area today, July 28. The boat ramp was reopened with a few restrictions due to ongoing safety concerns following the significant storm damage at the park from the July 12 storm. Parking space is limited to areas that are paved only. Non-paved areas will be blocked off until Corps staff can safely remove the remaining fallen trees and debris. The campsite and beach area will remain closed until all of the storm debris is removed. Reservations made through Aug. 17 have been canceled. Corps staff continues working to reopen the park to recreators, but safety remains the number one priority. The nearly 650 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2014 $100 million budget, nearly 1,600 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $155 million to the national economy.
