Corps releases draft environmental assessment for Alvarado, Minn., levee

ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released a draft environmental assessment today, March 1, on the proposed modifications to the existing levee system at Alvarado, Minn.

The City of Alvarado proposes to modify the existing levee system constructed by the Corps of Engineers during the 1990s. Modifications include removing damaged levee areas, constructing a rock support, realigning portions of the levee, re-grading slopes and reinforcing the river banks to prevent erosion. The environmental assessment and additional information can be viewed and downloaded from the Corps’ website at: http://www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Missions/CivilWorks/Environment/EnvironmentalAssessments.aspx.

The document is available for public review until March 31. Persons submitting comments are advised that all comments received will be available to the public, to include the possibility of posting on a publicly accessible website.
