Corps of Engineers awards $6.9 million McGregor Lake Stage 2 option

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is awarding the second part of the McGregor Lake Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project today, to Dubuque Barge and Fleeting Service Company doing business as Newt Marine Service, of Dubuque, Iowa. The $6.9 million option award will go toward the stage 2 construction contract in the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge located near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Corps seeks public comments on Pool 9 habitat restoration project

PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking comments on its draft feasibility report and integrated Environmental Assessment, or EA, for its proposed Reno Bottoms Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project on the Upper Mississippi River near New Albin, Iowa.

Corps announces additional temporary closures at Hastings lock and dam to replace nearly 80-year-old gates

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will have additional temporary closures at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, August 3 and 5 to properly align and seal the lock chamber’s new miter gates. The lock will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Corps monitors low water on the Upper Mississippi River, navigation continues

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, continues to closely monitor water levels on the Upper Mississippi River as drought conditions continue across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The low water is not affecting shipping conditions on the river and navigation continues.

Corps of Engineers awards contract to repair Mississippi River habitat islands

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently awarded a $2.4 million contract to Water Works Dock & Boat Lifts, Inc. of Stoddard, Wisconsin, to repair a Mississippi River habitat restoration project approximately 40 miles south of La Crosse, Wisconsin, that was damaged by recent flooding events.

Minneapolis locks closing for the end of navigation season

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Due to the arrival of winter, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing its Lower St. Anthony Falls lock and Lock and Dam 1 to commercial and recreational vessels for the end of the navigation season on Saturday Nov. 7.
