Corps of Engineers recognizes St. Paul, Minn., resident

Published April 3, 2012
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, selected St. Paul, Minn., resident and Floodwood, Minn., native Aaron Snyder as one of its three Civil Servants of the Year this year.

The St. Paul District presents this award annually to the top three or four of its 700 employees. Snyder, who's worked for the Corps of Engineers for more than nine years, is the district chief of the Project Management Branch. In this role, he oversees 10 employees working on several regional water resource projects.

Snyder received this award in recognition for his outstanding leadership during the past year. Snyder led a large and diverse project team starting in 2008 and culminating in 2011 in the Fargo, N.D./Moorhead, Minn., Metropolitan Area Flood Damage Reduction Study. Snyder’s efforts included extensive partnering with local, state and federal agencies; project resolution on significant procedural, policy and technical issues; coordination with elected officials in all levels of government; and leading a large study team with multiple partners, employees and contractors.

“Snyder has demonstrates innovation and determination in service to the nation,” said his supervisor Judy DesHarnais. “His work on the Fargo Moorhead Flood risk reduction study, one of the nation's most flood prone areas, won approval at the highest levels of the Corps of Engineers.”

Snyder will receive his award at the 35th Annual Minnesota Federal Civil Servant of the Year Awards in St. Paul, Minn., May 4.
